Safety Standards
Our safety practices follow our belief that an effective safety
program comes from creating a culture of safety. In order to
create this safety culture, we have implemented safety training,
enforcement, and safety incentive programs.
Training - We have
a customized new employee safety training program that all of
our employees are required to undergo before they can start working
on any of our job sites. As our employees advance and are promoted
to higher levels within the organization, they are also required
to take additional safety classes that are commensurate with
their field responsibilities. All of our field supervisors, for
example, are Cal-OSHA 10 hour certified as well as CPR and First
Aid certified. Finally, we also perform bi-weekly safety tailgate
meetings and hold special safety meetings to address new safety
issues that may arise during the year.
Enforcement and Incentives - We
believe that training must be combined with enforcement and proper
incentives to truly create a culture of safety. To achieve this
goal, we have implemented a comprehensive disciplinary process
for safety violations in the field. Each time our field supervisors
arrive at a job site, their first priority is to evaluate the
safety conditions of our working area and of our employees. Any
deficiencies are noted and cited and the deficiency is immediately
corrected. We have also implemented a workplace safety incentive
program through our Safety Pays bonus program. This program encourages
all employees to look out for each other as they all have the
opportunity to directly benefit from the safety of their peers.
